Halloween

Okay, so I finished The Hunger Games and am onto the next book, Catching Fire, but needed to post our Halloween pictures. Are you over Halloween? I am thinking about Christmas already. My girls ended up being witches and Luke, a Mutant Ninja Turtle- don't know where he got it. Luke was Rollie Pollie Ollie and Spiderman earlier in the week, but ended up wearing this by Saturday.

Here is Roberta's front yard and house. I love how she decorates.

This is my parents' home in New York- spider attack!
And this picture really tripped me out. I could not figure out who this was....
.... Mom!
The kids loved making a Halloween craft at the library.

We trick-R-treated at Toys-R-Us in the morning and they gave us these cool bags. Luke is not found here- skiddish when it comes to a huge giraffe approaching.

Halloween 2009 Pumpkin Carving

As I was about to eat this for breakfast, I snapped a picture: Grilled chicken, spinach salad with spaghetti squash. When a neighbor gave me some squash, I was excited to try this recipe from All Recipes that Roberta sent me. It is divine.
Spaghetti Squash
INGREDIENTS:
· 1 spaghetti squash, halved lengthwise and seeded
· 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
· 1 onion, chopped
· 1 clove garlic, minced
· 1 1/2 cups chopped tomatoes
· 3/4 cup crumbled feta cheese
· 3 tablespoons sliced black olives
· 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a baking sheet.
Place spaghetti squash cut sides down on the prepared baking sheet, and bake 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a sharp knife can be inserted with only a little resistance. Remove squash from oven, and set aside to cool enough to be easily handled.
Meanwhile, heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Saute onion in oil until tender. Add garlic, and saute for 2 to 3 minutes. Stir in the tomatoes, and cook only until tomatoes are warm.
Use a large spoon to scoop the stringy pulp from the squash, and place in a medium bowl. Toss with the sauteed vegetables, feta cheese, olives, and basil. Serve warm.

The vote is in for this Election Day

...on which candy I like to raid most from my kids Halloween bags!
In order:

1. Butterfinger

2. Butterfinger Crisp

Pretty much made them give me all Butterfingers as they walked down the steps from the trick-r-treating house. And if they fuss, I tell them it is my rightful cut since I was the one walking them. But I missed one, and was so pleasantly surprised to see it in Julia's bag today.

3. Babe Ruth (that was surprising)

4. Milky Way

5. Nestle Crunch

6. 3 Muskateers (boring)

7. M&M's

8. Recess Peanut Butter Cups

9. Whoppers (They have a nice after taste. Really.)

10. Snickers (Why am I not into them more?)

11. And if there is no longer any choclate left, I love any Taffy!

Walkway Over the Hudson Festivities

Here is a follow-up of the Poughkeepsie Party. Most of the pictures were sent to me from Mom.

Bob Seeger

NY Governer, David Paterson

Phil and Hansi

Grandma and Teetsie on their scooters!

See that white house on the right (Bain Ave)? Used to live there when I was little.

Just some pictures from a favorite park we frequent to go birding. Luke was trying out an old and too small skeleton costume.

Snow?

Earlier this week, we had a big snow storm! Kids loved it. It really was a good storm.

This is a picture from Roberta's house.
